Congratulations Rob Mackean, who completed the half-marathon in 2 hours and 33 minutes!

Any other August at this time and the Arkle team would have decanted into the Royal Scots Club, where for three weeks they would have welcomed the Edinburgh masses to enjoy some of the Fringe in the Hepburn Suite. It is a strange year indeed with no festival to take part in, but our man Rob is not letting that deter him.

Rob is raising funds for Arkle Theatre by running a half marathon as part of the Edinburgh Marathon Festival Virtual Challenge. Rob will be tackling the distance on Sunday 6 September, when the rearranged Edinburgh Marathon would have taken place before it too fell afoul to the pandemic.

If you would like to support theatre this August, and help motivate Rob during his training, donate through PayPal (Donations now closed). All cards are accepted – you don’t even need a Paypal account.

Everything Rob raises here will go towards Arkle’s future productions. Please remember to add a message stating that you want to Gift Aid your donation if you’re a UK taxpayer, and follow us on Facebook where we will be keeping track of his progress.

Rob is admittedly 33% older than the last time he ran this distance, but he’s only 20% slower – surely that is a good sign of what’s to come!
