It’s been a while since I last posted anything, I know. That’s one thing about getting older – time flies past. I’m so old I can remember not being allowed to stay up to watch the first moon landing when my older brother was. He was almost 11, I was just turned 9. I probably felt a bit cheated at the time, but didn’t appreciate that I was missing on a bit of history.

ArkleThat’s nothing compared to the women who didn’t get to go into space. Our Spring show for 2014, The Astronaut’s Chair, by Rona Monro, directed by Dario Dalla Costa, tells the story of the space race from their perspective. It’s based on a true story; there was a training programme for female astronauts which was cancelled without warning. The fight to get it restarted went all the way to the Senate, but you can tell that ultimately it wasn’t successful. Many years had to pass before the US put a woman into space.

If you want to find out more, come and see the show. Tickets through the usual outlets (well, call Michael or contact us via the contact form on the website). Download the flyer, send it to your friend and get them to come too! You can download a JPEG by clicking on the image, or a PDF by following this link: Astronauts Chair.

I look forward to seeing you there!
