The Arkle Evening returned, after a three year hiatus, on Tuesday 6th December 2022. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces, as we thanked our cast and crew for 2022 and looked ahead to 2023.
After catching up and indulging in Rob Mackean’s delicious mulled concoctions, attentions turned to the shows in Arkle’s programme in 2023.
Spring 2023
Pressure by David Haig,
directed by Hannah Bradley Croall
Performances: Wednesday 19th to Saturday 22nd April
Set just at the time of D-Day, chief meteorologist James Stagg must decide if weather conditions mean that the largest landing in the history of the world can go ahead or be postponed. A tense drama based on real-life events, a superb play.
Cast: 16 characters with some doubling.
Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2023
Performances: Monday 14th to Saturday 19th August.
Lilies on the Land a play by the Lions Part
directed by Kate Stephenson
Stories taken from the oral testimonies of the women that formed the Land Army, those who worked the fields to help the war effort. Poignant and comedic, a joyful celebration of life.

The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde,
directed by Catriona Bone.
Nothing much you can say except a classic and Arkle’s first ever foray into Wilde territory.
